Client preparation
Lash-lift preparation: what to tell clients before their appointment
Give clients a simple preparation message when they book. They should know what to remove, which products to tell you about and whose instructions to follow. Serum timing should come from the professional system and product guidance, rather than a universal countdown.
Ask about the products they use
Ask clients to tell you the name of their lash serum and other products they apply around the eyes. “Oil-free,” “conditioning” and “Korean” do not establish that a product is suitable immediately before a treatment. Check the actual product and your system’s preparation requirements.
Give clear pause and restart instructions
The original Ruminae guide asks clients two questions: when should they stop using serum, and when can they resume it? Answer those questions for your own service. Do not copy a pause window from another studio if it does not match your system.
A serum is an ongoing cosmetic care step. Extra application before an appointment is not a shortcut to a better lift. Encourage clients to follow the label and avoid last-minute experiments with new products or extra coats.
A short appointment-day checklist
- Arrive with clean, makeup-free lashes, following the studio’s preparation instructions.
- Remove eye makeup gently and avoid leaving cleanser or skincare residue at the lash line.
- Skip mascara and last-minute lash curling.
- Tell the artist which lash serum and eye-area products you use.
- Ask about cleansing, mascara and serum timing after the appointment.
Keep the instructions easy to find
Include your preparation guidance in the booking confirmation. Ask clients to contact the studio if they are unsure about a product instead of guessing. At the appointment, confirm the relevant information before you start.
Does serum make a lift last longer?
Do not promise that it will. Explain the cosmetic purpose stated on the product label and keep it separate from claims about lift performance or duration.
What comes next?
Give aftercare instructions that match the system used, including when to resume normal cleansing and products. The client should leave knowing whom to contact with a question.
